Our client, an 800-bed hospital with six state-of-art catheterization labs, was experiencing the threat of losing business to independent outpatient centers run by invasive cardiologists. R & L’s solution was to maximize the profitability and efficiency of our clients’ existing facility by leasing out two of its six cath labs, including equipment and staff, to local physicians.
KEY RESULTS
Incorporating physicians into day-to-day operations helped the hospital improve efficiency and increase the number of referrals for interventional procedures and surgeries.
Net profit in one year increased by $175,000, while the net profit to physicians after block lease rate and supplies was $1,025 per case.
Partnering physicians improved their income and increased their reimbursement on average per case from $425 to $1,875. This profit was acquired with no capital outlay.
Currently, all blocks are full and there is a waiting list, with a second location being developed that is completely booked during the pre-opening phase.
